Proxy - its benefits, working methods

The proxy system is an important concept in the field of the Internet (browsing and searching), and it is a

system that has many benefits in the field of browsing, electronic protection, and so on.

A proxy - it is a dedicated computer or software system that acts as an intermediary between a local device

(a personal computer, for example) and another server from which the user or client requests a service.

In other words, the proxy is an electronic gateway that allows the user to pass through it to the Internet.

The request (request to access a specific page, for example) is sent through the proxy to redirect it to the

site or address disguised under a new “IP” address, in order to provide security and user protection.

The proxy server may be located on the same machine as the firewall proxy, or it may be on a separate server.

How does a proxy work?

When the proxy server receives a request to an Internet resource (such as a request to download a specific web page),

it searches in its cache. If it finds the requested web page in it, it returns it to the user

without the need to redirect the request to the Internet.

If the page is not in the cache, the proxy server (which acts on the user's behalf) uses its own "IP" address

to request the page from the server on the Internet.

When the requested page is returned, the proxy connects the page to the original request and then redirects it to the user.

Illustrative example :

Suppose you were at work using a web browser to visit google and you turned on the proxy on your browser, after

typing the address www.google.com the request will go to the proxy server.

The proxy server sends the request to the server on which the requested website is hosted.

The website page is returned to the proxy server, which will return the result to you.

As a result, the proxy server appears as a visitor to this website instead of seeing your computer and knowing its location.

Why is a proxy used?

Privacy : Hides your "IP" address, your location, and other information.

When you connect to the Internet directly, you download a specific website.

The server that hosts this website can know your "IP" address, so it can almost know your personal

location and determine what browser you use.

But when you use the proxy it can hide the "IP" address (if this option is added), and you will become more

anonymous when using a direct Internet connection.

Security : Proxy has a role in improving security, especially when used in business networks, and it can

be set to prevent access to malicious sites that distribute malicious software.

The proxy also provides encryption services.

Through the proxy, it is possible to easily access the sites from which the user may be banned , and

because the proxy contributes to granting him a new "IP" address as a way to unblock the ban.

Increase browsing speed : The proxy is used in order to obtain a faster speed in browsing, because when

the user requests a specific page, he stores it with him, so when he requests

it again, he brings it from his memory instead of asking it from the site server ..

The proxy can also read and process information related to websites. Faster than your PC.

Internet use control : it is used in corporate networks because it provides control over what employees

 access on the Internet.

Thus it ensures that time is not wasted by employees.Internet use control : it is used in corporate

networks because it provides control over what employees access on the Internet.

Thus it ensures that time is not wasted by employees.

Access to blocked sites : Some countries block sites from users for political purposes or block

social networking sites, and through the proxy, you can access blocked sites easily.

Encryption of the Internet connection : Through it, you can encrypt your connection, thus

avoiding hacker attacks on the Internet.

Prevent your online activity from being tracked : Because you are considered anonymous, especially

since an "IP" address different from your real address is used.

What is a VPN (Virtual Private Network)?

The acronym for “Virtual Private Network”: A virtual private network that provides a way to

maintain your privacy while using the Internet via a mobile phone or computer.

The idea of "VPN":

The "VPN" encrypts all the data sent from the computer over the Internet, then turns it into a special

form of data packets and sends it to the "VPN" server, which is able to decode the encryption using digital

keys and thus your data will be protected and no one will be able to read the data sent except through those keys. .

The primary benefit of a “ VPN ” is that it makes the Internet connection encrypted.

When browsing websites or downloading certain data or information , the "VPN" encrypts all

communications and sends them to the "VPN" server, which in turn sends them to the destination.

The difference between a proxy and a "VPN":

Both hide your "IP" address and your geographic location.

Both of them enable you to access blocked websites.

The proxy does not provide encryption for your information .. As for the “VPN”, everything you

do is through a fake “IP”.

As a "VPN" encrypts the "IP" and all your private information and allows protecting your privacy.

Advanced technologies may remove the proxy features and prevent the "IP" being hidden, but they

 cannot eliminate the "VPN" features.

The proxy records and stores all your activity on browsers.

A VPN is stronger and better than a proxy.

The proxy improves internet speed.

As for the “VPN,” it negatively affects the internet speed because it consumes part of it in encryption.

If the "VPN" service is not reliable, it may put your data at risk because the "VPN" reads all your data to encrypt it.
